1. Exhaust Inlet: Hot exhaust gases (up to 650°C) from the engine’s exhaust manifold flow into the muffler through the inlet flange. |
2. Noise Reduction:
- Reactive Stage: Gases pass through a series of baffles and chambers, which reflect and disrupt sound waves (reducing low-frequency noise).
- Absorptive Stage: Gases then flow through sound-absorbing material (ceramic/fiberglass), which traps and dampens high-frequency noise. |
| 3. Gas Direction: The muffler’s internal channels direct cooled, quieted exhaust gases out through the outlet flange – routed away from the operator cab and job site personnel. |
