1. Exhaust-Driven Turbine: Hot exhaust gas from the engine flows through the turbine housing, spinning the turbine wheel (150,000+ RPM). |
| 2. Compressor Operation: The turbine wheel is connected to a coaxial compressor wheel, which draws in ambient air and compresses it (boost pressure: 2.5–3.0 bar). |
| 3. Air Cooling: Compressed air passes through an intercooler to reduce temperature (denser air = more oxygen for combustion). |
| 4. Wastegate Regulation: When boost pressure exceeds the set limit, the pneumatic actuator opens the wastegate, diverting excess exhaust gas around the turbine to slow it down – maintaining safe boost levels. |
